A hallmark of the holdings of the M.T. Abraham Foundation is the focus on artists whose work it holds in depth – collections that are the result of many decades of increasingly focused acquisition. Its commitment to this approach allows the Foundation to potentially lend works by a single artist to multiple institutions while maintaining a significant group of works at its facilities.
The Foundation strives to grow a collection that will provide scholars, students, and curators with a comprehensive overview of an artist’s achievements. Many artists are represented by dozens of major works; some are represented by truly exceptional examples. The M.T. Abraham Foundation also owns works by lesser-known 20th-century artists, ranging in date from the early 1900s to the 1940s. In both instances, the collections include significant groupings of works that rival other public or private collections around the world.
