Seeking to expand and enrich its collection, the M.T. Abraham Foundation selectively acquires works of art according to the following guidelines:
- The work must significantly augment the Foundation’s current holdings of an artist
- The work is of iconic importance within the artist’s oeuvre and in the history of art
- The work fits within the declared scope of the collection as a whole
Overall, the Foundation focuses on creating meaningful groupings of works that embody the essence of an artist’s career, thus providing the public with an opportunity to experience the scope of his or her artistic achievement. Many of the artists in the collection are represented by major works whose importance is recognized internationally.
The Foundation is committed to making the collection available to museums, educational institutions, artists and scholars, and has established its loan program with that in mind. As part of its acquisitions policy, the M.T. Abraham Foundation might secure an entire collection as well as individual objects to further its artistic mission.
